Pooled Liability Program Minimize

VCJPA provides coverage to members in the areas of bodily injury, property damage, personal injury, and public officials' liability through pooled sharing of losses. VCJPA provides members with $1,000,000 in limits of coverage per occurrence with each member retaining a portion of each loss ranging from $1,000 to $75,000. VCJPA is also a member of the California Affiliated Risk Management Authorities (CARMA), a risk sharing joint powers authority. When losses exceed the $1,000,000 per occurrence limit, CARMA provides coverage up to $29,000,000.

In addition, VCJPA provides its members up to $2,000,000 in coverage for employment practices liability type claims. The first $1,000,000 is provided by VCJPA with each member retaining its own self-insured retention. Coverage between $100,000 and $2,000,000 is provided through participation in the Employment Risk Management Authority (ERMA), a self-insurance pool.

In order to protect the members from periods of frequent and severe losses, the Aggregate and Mid-Layer Pools have  been built into the Pooled Liability Program. The graph below outlines the various levels of coverage provided through this program.
